Alex Volkov
Founder & CEO
Alex founded Avanta Contracting in 2008 after 20 years in Vancouver construction. He started as a framing carpenter and worked his way through every trade before earning his general contractor licence. Today he oversees every major project from scope to handover. His hands-on background means clients always deal with someone who understands the work firsthand. Alex has personally managed over 300 commercial tenant improvements across Surrey, Burnaby, and downtown Vancouver, including multi-unit restaurant buildouts and 50,000 sq ft office renovation programs. He is an active member of the Vancouver Regional Construction Association (VRCA).

Project Director
Sarah manages project schedules, client communications, and budget tracking across all active jobs. She coordinates multi-trade timelines and handles change-order documentation so nothing falls through the cracks. Before joining Avanta, Sarah managed $20M+ in commercial fit-out projects in downtown Vancouver. She speaks English and Mandarin. Sarah specializes in fast-track restaurant and retail buildouts, routinely delivering projects 15–20% ahead of schedule. She has coordinated permitting with 12 municipalities across Metro Vancouver and maintains working relationships with inspectors in Surrey, Vancouver, and Burnaby.

Lead Estimator & Construction Manager
Michael has 15 years of hands-on carpentry and estimating experience in Metro Vancouver. He reviews every set of drawings, walks every job site, and prices each line item to give clients honest, accurate quotes. His deep knowledge of BC Building Code requirements helps flag potential cost issues before they become surprises. Michael holds a Red Seal Carpentry designation and a LEED Green Associate credential, bringing sustainable building practices to every project. He has estimated over $40M in commercial renovation work, from boutique spa fit-outs to large-scale food court construction in shopping centres across the Lower Mainland.
